Big Change in Socratic League as August 12 Sim Completed.

During the August 12 sim, the Platonic League playoff race continued to settle out as the Pittsburgh Pisces ran their win streak to 8 games and have taken a 8.5 game lead for the wild card spot. Seattle retains a 10 game lead for the division title.

In the Socratic League though, woo boy. Brooklyn cleaned up in the big series with Helena and has an 8 game winning streak. Brooklyn took the first two games by the identical score of 2-0 before winning the third in an 11-3 laugher. That streak has pushed Brooklyn into the division lead. Jersey City now holds the wild card spot, 2 games behind the Bombers. Helena is another 1.5 games back, in third place.

There were a host of games in extra innings as well. New York beat Winnipeg 4-3 in 12 innings on August 8. Jersey City won 7-5 on August 9 over Marietta. Helena, after blowing a one-run lead in the ninth, redeemed the sim slightly with an 11-6 win in 15 innings over Seattle.

No super significant injury news, although Jersey City had a couple of people dinged up.

On a more individual level, Brooklyn's second sacker, Miyatarou Takenao, has raised his batting average to .408. Will he be able to stay over .400 for the season? Who knows, but it would be a heck of an accomplishment.

Coming up, Helena has three more games against Seattle in a matchup of the teams with the two best Pythagorean records. The first game of a two-game set between Jersey City will also be played on August 16 in the last day of the next sim.

The league file has been updated by now and the web pages are in the process of being updated. Next sim will be Monday by Nate.

My team isn't winning, but we're not going down without a fight. Check out Earl Mora, he came up from the minors for his first start since April, gives up a lead-off homerun, and then is kicked out of the game for beaning the next batter. I wonder if he started a brawl. I hope so, this Philadelphian hates all things Pittsburgh, even in virtual leagues.

Well, I continue to lose, but not quite bad enough to get a truly premier draft pick. I'm a barely sub-.500 team and my players know it!

Though it's possible Michael could pass me and I'd get that all important FOURTH pick in the draft.
