July 24 Sim Completed

Only a few days left before the trading deadline and there are playoff races afoot.

In the Platonic League, Seattle has all but sewn up the division title with a 13.5 game lead and only 60 games left to play. It would take a mammoth collapse for them not to be hosting the first round of the playoffs.

The Platonic League wild card race is tight though. Pittsburgh currently holds the position, but is a mere three games over .500. Maryland is just two games behind the Pisces and Sylva only another half game back. It looks like a three-team dog fight down the stretch for the chance to lose to Seattle.

In the Socratic League, three teams are battling for two playoff spots. Jersey City sits at 62-32, tied with Seattle for the best record in the OEL. Helena is 5.5 games back and in second, despite a better Pythagorean record. Brooklyn is currently third, just one game behind the Handbaskets.

On the other end of things, Cairo and Winnpieg are battling for the top pick in next year's draft. This commentator will refrain from any further mockery.

In a very notable recent performance, New York's Charles Hults threw a no-hitter back on July 6, striking out 12 and walking only 2. This was only the second no-hitter in OEL history.

The July 31 trading deadline is fast approaching, so this is a great chance for teams in the playoff hunt to improve their rosters and reach for immortality while those on the outside looking in can reload for future campaigns.

The sim schedule is on the league page, but to summarize, Nate will be simming on Monday and I'll handle Wednesday. We'll be off then for a Thanksgiving break until the following Monday, which will take us past the trading deadline.

The updated league file is up and my computer is once again slowly uploading the updated web pages. Should be done in an hour or so.

Good luck, all!
