Jersey City is proud to announce the first step in the shaking up of its roster, as they trade #5 starter Quinn Shetler, MR Ralph Mills, veteran 1B Steven Dawson as well as 3rd and 6th round picks next year to the Maryland Poedamnedonium in exchange for SP Robert Newland, MR Tony Espinel, 1B/3B Andre Hanson, SP Wilfredo Solares, 1B prospect Jason Horak and 1.8 million in cash.
"Well, finally we've got someone signed for next year who can play first base", said Jersey City's GM. "Andre gives us a veteran presence there. Robert Newland and Tony Espinel should replace Shetler and Mills fairly well, and they're cheap for this year, giving us some room to add salary if needed. Wilfredo Solares gives us a young SP option for next year and beyond.
"We wish Steven Dawson good luck in the rest of his farewell tour this year."
The frenzied activity behind the Jersey City GM as he made these remarks led many in the audience to believe that there was something else in the works....
