OEL Championship: Brooklyn Takes Initiative

In the opener of the OEL Championship series, Brooklyn took the lead with a 4-3 victory at home. The turning point was the two-run single delivered in the second inning by starting pitcher Willie Carter. That was the key blow in a four-run inning that turned a 2-0 deficit into a 4-2 lead. Pittsburgh rebounded with a run in the eighth inning, but could not get the tying run across. Willie Carter picked up Player of the Game honors for his sterling performance on the mound and at the plate.

Game Two will be simmed tomorrow by Nate. League file is posted and web pages are en route.

Come on, Platonic League!

Hey, what's the deal with the emails? The game says I have emails as recent as 10/1, but they are all blank. THe website says my last email was received in June. Something's up!

The emails probably got lost when Nate had his computer glitch. Sorry. If it helps, there was nothing new there since Nate's problem was after 10/1 in game time.

By the way, I hate to sound like a fatalist, but I really needed to win Game 1 to have a chance at this series. I had my best pitcher (and only remaining one above 3*) going against Brooklyn's #3 starter. I now get to face Conn and Duran four more times (if the series goes seven games) and I'll be running out guys not nearly as good.

I'd be laying heavy money on Brooklyn, if I could.

That's why we play 'em, my friend.

Remember, eighteen months ago we were all convinced that the Presidential contenders would be Clinton and Giuliani.
