Rule 5 Draft Completed

Only two selections in the Rule 5 draft. Pittsburgh selected 1B S. Bosch and 3B A. Moreno. Rumor is that the selections were made for an as-yet-unidentified team that erroneously filled its roster up, but no deal has been announced yet.

Other free agent signings were made. Any competing offers were extended in waiver priority order (i.e., amateur draft order).

Spring Training is next. For those of you who want to, please upload your spring training plans by tomorrow evening and I'll run spring training then. For those who don't upload plans, you're probably better off for it. Spring Training in version 6.5 is a veritable landmine. Anyway, after Spring Training, it's on to the mysterious version 9!

League file is posted. Web pages en route.

Hmm...

Can I pre-emptively suggest banning the trading-so-I-can-stuff-my-Rule-V-pick-in-the-minors practice that Mack so excellently perfected last season?

It's a clever idea, but can be too-easily abused and shouldn't be tolerated.

(Yes, I'm posting this because I lost two prospects in this draft. Yes, I also know I could've protected them.)

If it helps, I'm not planning to stuff them in the minors. Any trade to do that has to be with the original team, which means you would have to consent. Otherwise, the team I'm trading them to will have to keep them in the majors all year. Which I think is his plan anyway.

Fair enough.

Based on the link Mack cited when he did a similar but different trade last year, I'm wondering if players are required to go through waivers first.

Sorry, I suck at posting hyperlinks. There should be an "html" at the end of that link.
