The 2003 season has begun!
In the Platonic League, Maryland is (already) the last undefeated team standing with a 3-0 record. Meanwhile, Cairo is struggling with a 0-3 start but can take solace in its top-ranked minor league system featuring an astonishing four of the top six prospects.
In the Socratic League, Helena has the early lead with a 3-1 start. New York is in the cellar at 1-4, but the bigger surprise might be defending champion Brooklyn at 1-2. (Note: As Jeremy pointed out, Brooklyn is 2-2. I don't know how I misread that.)
Maryland's Lewis McGurk had the best pitching performance with eight innings of shutout ball, yielding only two hits and a walk while striking out 11 against Cairo on April 4.
Helena's Bill Auld slugged the first multi-home run game with two dingers against Brooklyn on April 6.
Marietta topped New York 3-2 on April 4 in the only extra inning game, in 10 frames.
The biggest blowout was Helena's 11-1 whitewashing of Marietta on April 7.
It's a little early to get excited about league leaders, so I won't go there.
No terribly significant injuries, although Sylva's shortstop is a bit gimpy. (I know we all feel bad for the computer.)
The next sim will be Friday by Nate. The league file is up and the web pages are en route.

I am 2-2 after the first sim not 1-2...just for the record
Small sample size, indeed: I'm second in the league in opposing batting average, but second worst in ERA!
So far, though, so good. 2-1 on the road, and my offense is above average across the board.
