We're up to mid-May now. Time just keeps clicking by.
In the Platonic League, Seattle's dominance remains closely contended by Sylva and Maryland who are just one and two games back respectively. Those three teams sport the best records in the entire OEL. Could this be the year that the PL breaks through a wins a title? Meanwhile, the Pisces pulled out a three game losing streak to retain the death grip on next year's first pick.
In the Socratic League, Brooklyn remains in first but there is still just a 4.5 game range between first and last in this tightly packed group. Helena moved from fourth to second and stands just 1.5 games back. Marietta is only a half-game behind the Handbaskets and Jersey City is just another half-game back.
In other quick news tidbits...
Sylva's Perry Hidgin and Helena's Joseph Watson won Player of the Week.
Sylva lost starting pitcher Sergio Varela for about ten days to a stiff "shoulder". Sure, I believe it was a "shoulder".
In a rematch of last year's championship series, Brooklyn shut out Seattle 4-0 on May 13. Brooklyn finished off a three-game sweep the next night in a 2-1 nailbiter.
On May 14, Sylva bombed Jersey City, and I mean bombed them, in a 20-3 rout. 24 hits, three walks, and only two strikeouts for the five pitchers who took the hill for the Skeeters. Sylva's Silvano Almonte had 6 RBIs to lead the assault. Heck, starting pitcher Gaby Duran went 3-3.
Cairo topped Brooklyn 7-6 in 12 innings on May 15. The next night New York beat Pittsburgh 6-5 in 11 innings in a battle of last place teams while Seattle scored three in the tenth to beat Jersey City 6-3.
Carlos Araoz of Seattle leads the PL with 10 home runs and is the first to reach double digits.
Trevor Canela of Brooklyn is the OEL's first six-game winner while Stockholm's Earl Moya is the only six-game loser.
Edward Kopecky has a 1.90 ERA for the Poedamnedmonium.
The league file is loaded and the web pages are en route. The next sim will be Wednesday by Nate.
