Sorry for the slight delay folks. Claudia and I went out to dinner to celebrate the 19th anniversary of our first date. 19 years together isn't bad considering we're only 35 years old. Anyway, sorry for the delay.
In the Platonic League, order is restored to the universe as the Seattle Ministry of Silly Walks reclaims the division lead and the top of the Power Rankings. I'm sure we all look forward to their third regular season crown and another crushing playoff loss! Maryland remains only a half-game back however. Sylva, Stockholm, and Cairo are all clumped around .500. The Pittsburgh "Pathetics" have held on to their grip on the first pick in next year's draft, led by a sterling 3-7 record at home. Sigh.
In the Socratic League, Marietta remains in first place. Brooklyn now holds second as a tailspin dropped Helena below .500 for the first time this year. Winnipeg and Helena are close behind Brooklyn while Jersey City and New York seek some traction. (By the way, do we really need three NYC area teams in the same division?)
News and Notes:
Mark Kiker represented for Cairo this week, taking home Player of the Week honors in the Platonic League. Longtime stud Juan Favela of Helena captured the Socratic honors.
Sylva lost solid starting pitcher Pedro Diaz for the season. I'm sure we'll all send our electronic best wishes to the poor computer.
Stockholm's starting pitching problems took a turn for the worse as Chad Kinlaw strained a ligament in his elbow and will be out 7-8 weeks.
James McKinsey of Sylva eased his owner's frustration with five hits against New York on April 26. Helena's Wiley Reynoso had accomplished the same feat just three days earlier, also against New York. (Is there a trend here, Eric?)
Sylva and Winnipeg made a trade, with third baseman David Lipinski going to Winnipeg and Sylva picking up a starter to replace Diaz. For some reason, Sylva also got a 3.5* prospect first baseman. No one knows why. I tried to tell my laptop to post the trade on the blog and explain it, but it just sat there and ignored me. No manners whatsoever.
Donald Mansfield of Stockholm has raised his average above .400 for the year. John Sasso (MPD), Ronald Veit (SEA), and Carlos Araoz (SEA) lead the PL with five homers each. For comparitive purposes, the entire Pittsburgh team has six. Nice job, Pisces! Araoz is on pace to drive in 189 runs, which I've heard would be really good. Lewis McGurk is 4-0 in five starts for Maryland.
Constantino Martinez and Albert Ramer, both of Marietta, laugh at those PL pikers as they have 7 and 6 home runs, respectively. Trevor Canela of Brooklyn is 4-0 in four starts. Tomihiko Heizo of Marietta is on pace to score 180 runs and, strangely, has exactly three doubles, triples, and home runs. Apparently, he's versatile.
The league file is posted and the web pages are en route. Nate's handling all three sims next week as I'll be traveling for business. Next sim will be Monday when the calendar will roll over from April's showers to May's flowers.
