We're up to August 28 and there's still seven teams fighting for three playoff berths.
In the Platonic League, Seattle keeps cruising with a double-digit lead. Stockholm has ridden a hot streak into the wild card lead. Maryland and Sylva are tied for third, just 1.5 games back of the Sluggers. Pittsburgh and Cairo continue to be ... not good.
In the Socratic League, Marietta clings to a narrow lead, just one game ahead of Winnipeg. Brooklyn and Jersey City are each two games behind Marietta and one game behind Winnipeg. Helena has lost five straight and is now a solid fifth. New York continues to match and exceed Cairo and Pittsburgh in futility.
Miscellaneous notes:
No significant injuries this sim. Yay!
Seattle's John Covas and New York's Alfonzo Vargas (owner of a no hitter in the prior sim) took home Player of the Week honors.
Maryland's Quinn Shetler threw a three-hit shutout of Helena on August 20. Meanwhile, Cairo topped Jersey City 5-4 in 15 innings.
On August 21, Stockholm scored two in the top of the ninth to pull out a 3-2 victory over Helena, Jersey City scored in the top of the tenth to beat Sylva 4-3, and Seattle pounded Brooklyn 11-1.
On August 23, Pittsburgh scored three runs in the top of the tenth inning to lead Marietta 4-1. Unfortunately, the Pisces coughed up three in the bottom of the tenth and went on to lose 5-4 in 12 innings. Meanwhile Sylva scored in the bottom of the ninth to beat Jersey City 3-2.
League file posted. Web pages en route. Next sim by Nate on Monday.
